Disney movies have always been classics among children no matter where or when they grew up. And the Disney princess movies seem to be the biggest hits of them all. Children aspire to be those princesses. They decorate their rooms in a princess’s theme, learn all of a princess’s songs, and beg to watch the movie over and over again.
No matter how much time goes by, these princesses and the films they come from never get old. But one artist thought it would be interesting to see what the Disney princesses would look like if they actually aged with the movies they each came from.
So, artist Isaque Areas decided to draw the Disney princess as their correct ages after judging the release dates of their respective films. With Isaque Areas’s hand in the mix, even the Magic Mirror couldn’t keep these princesses young.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out in 1937. Snow White, the fairest of them all, was supposed to be about 14 years old at the time. So, in 2015, when Areas drew these princesses, Snow White would be 92 years old.
If Snow White is 92 years old, is she still the fairest of them all? I think it’s safe to assume she would be, as long as all of her evil stepmother’s jealousy and cruel, deadly tricks didn’t age the princess beyond her years or turn the nice, fair girl into a jaded old woman.
Cinderella is known for staying positive and kind to everyone she meets despite the torment that her stepmother and two evil step sisters put her through. So, if anyone is going to age happily and well, it’s this princess.
Cinderella came out in 1950 and Isaque Areas claims the girl was 19 years old at the time. So, in 2015, the kind princess would be 84 years old and likely looking over little, fair grandchildren with her Prince Charming.
Aurora / Sleeping Beauty
Princess Aurora from the movie Sleeping Beauty did prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel, thanks to a jealous evil fairy, Maleficent, who took vengeance on Aurora after not being invited to the princess’s christening.
However, the princess fortunately missed all of the treacherous activity that Prince Phillip had to go through to save her. So, the princess aged just fine. Sleeping Beauty was released in 1951 and Princess Aurora was 16 years old at the time. So, in 2015, the princess would be 72 years old.
The Little Mermaid came out in 1989 and told the story of a young mermaid who longed to be part of the human world. After a few dangerous encounters, Ariel got her wish to become human, married Prince Eric, and lived happily ever after on land.
At the time, Ariel was 16 years old. At the time that Isaque Areas drew the princess, she would be 42 years old. The princess would also likely be budgeting some money for red hair dye, as her beautiful locks might start greying soon.
The princess whose name means beauty would definitely still be beautiful no matter how old she gets. As her movie, Beauty and the Beast, came out in 1991 and the princess was about 17 years old at the time, Belle would be 41 years old when Isaque Areas drew her.
Despite still being beautiful now, Belle would likely want people to keep looking past what they see on the surface in order to catch a glimpse of real and true beauty.
With Aladdin by her side, Jasmine has likely had a life filled with adventure, love, and wonderment since her movie, Aladdin, came out. The film was released in 1992 and Jasmine was about 15 years old. So, when Isaque Areas drew her, the princess would have been 38 years old.
According to the artist, the beautiful dreamer of a princess would definitely still be rocking the gold earrings and shimmering, blue outfit.
Last, but not least, we have Mulan, the Chinese maiden who disguised herself as a man to fight for her father and bring honor to her family and all of China.
Mulan came out in 1998. At the time, the princess would have been about 16 years old. So, at the time of Isaque Areas’s work, Mulan would be about 33 years old. And there’s no doubt that age definitely looks good on this progressive fighter.
