When Michael Bay’s Transformers was released in 2007, Megan Fox, the female lead of the film, was at the forefront of everyone’s minds. She was featured in every celebrity news update, splattered across various magazine covers, and even topped the charts as the most attractive female in most men’s magazines.
Now, ten years later, things are much different. Megan Fox just isn’t a name we hear very often anymore. While the actress has appeared in a few movies and TV shows since Transformers was released, she just doesn’t get the same media attention anymore.
People just aren’t as concerned with the actress these days, but not many people know what happened. Why did Megan Fox seem to drop out of the spotlight so abruptly?
It turns out that the star just didn’t exactly handle her quick rise to fame very well. Her reaction to the spotlight got her in a bit of trouble.
Megan Fox went from being almost completely obscure to an intensely oversaturated Hollywood sensation. Some men’s websites apparently even called to boycott the star in 2009 because she was becoming so oversaturated in the media.
The actress was cast in the sequel to Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen, but was then dropped from any of Michael Bay’s future films. After being unceremoniously dropped, Megan Fox was then left to appear in multiple films that unsurprisingly flopped.
A few years later, Michael Bay explains why he dropped the woman from his films. While speaking to Wonderland magazine, Megan Fox compared Michael Bay to Hitler. She stated, “So he’s a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward.”
Michael Bay explains that it was Steven Spielberg who prompted the man to fire Megan Fox after her offensive comments. While Bay did end up dropping Megan Fox from his films, he also shared that he wasn’t exactly hurt by the actress’s comments because he knows that’s just how she is.
Fox recently admitted that being dropped from the Transformers films was the low point of her whole career. She realizes now that she should have reacted much differently to the situation. Instead of apologizing, the star chose to remain self-righteous, consequently snuffing her promising career.
However, life is still working out well for the actress. Instead of having her hands full with Transformers media coverage and the bright Hollywood spotlight, Fox is enjoying keeping busy with her husband and three kids.
